TIME: AI’s long-term risks shouldn’t distract from present risks

In TIME, AISCC expert Jan Brauner and Mila Ph.D. student Alan Chan argue against the “false dichotomy between ongoing harms and emergent risks”.

They point to the “several root causes that contribute to many instances of the harm caused by AI”, and note that many regulatory interventions would tackle both ongoing and future harms.
